Greeting Text & Local Greeting Text

The Greeting Text is one of the first things soon-to-become-subscribers see when they click on the “Send Message” button on your Facebook page. Or any of the other entry points that ‘forces’ them to go through the “Get Started” window first. The Greeting Text it self is displayed above the “Get Started” button in the chat window and is visible to all soon-to-become-subscribers before they even start a conversation with your page.

Greeting Text Overview

The Greeting Text is a great way to give a summary of your page or your chatbot’s functionality, and here are some rules to play by:

  1. The text is limited to 160 characters
  2. It may include variables like [FIRST_NAME]
  3. It may include emoji.

Important Tip about Greeting Text

If you use variables in your Greeting Text, such as personalization tags, a user’s name is counted towards the characters limit. If the names are too long the ending of your Greeting Text will be cut by the limit.

How to set up your Default Greeting Text

Type your text in the field (add personalization tags and/or emoji to make your message come alive) and save by clicking the “Save” button below the field.

And here is what you get:

You can also preview the Greeting Text: to do so, click “Open Preview” next to the “Save” button. This opens up a light box with your Preview.

This is how it looks like:

A well-chosen Greeting Text may help you increase conversion rate on the “Get Started” button – especially when you use Personalization Tags, so make sure to set up one for your bot right away!

How to set up your Local Greeting Text

Right below the Default Greeting Text you find Local Greeting Text. This where you can setup different Greeting Text for each language. Clever Messenger basically checks what the language is from the subscriber that engages with your bot, and if you’ve setup a Local Greeting Text in that language we serve that instead of the Default Greeting Text.

It works the same as Default Greeting Text, only you have to specify which language the input belongs to. Simply, type your text in the field (add personalization tags and/or emoji to make your message come alive) and save by clicking the “Save” button below the field.

And here is what you get:

A well-chosen Local Greeting Text may help you increase conversion rate on the “Get Started” button in your language – especially when you use Personalization Tags, so make sure to set up one for your bot right away!
